Asya Mikhailenko is driven to make the world healthier and more connected. A native of Ukraine, she's called the Twin Cities home since 1992. Through the course of a decade of designing print communications and websites in agency, nonprofit, and corporate settings, she's become fueled by the discipline of human-centered design and its potential to solve problems with a tangible bearing on people's lives. In 2015, she helped research and design "Minnesota Eats," a Minnesota State Fair exhibit promoting Minnesota's food community and aiming to draw a more holistic connection between fair-goers and their food. The Common Table-led project opened Asya's eyes to the opportunities that a more just and sustainable food system holds for solving environmental and public health issues.
